Conserving, monitoring, and reporting on genetic diversity

In this webinar, experts provided up-to-date information about how countries can meet their commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (or the Biodiversity Plan) to conserve genetic diversity of all species, wild and domesticated.

The terms used relating to genetic diversity in Goal A and Target 4 of the Biodiversity Plan were explained (https://www.cbd.int/biodiversityplan), followed by a review of the indicators for reporting on genetic diversity, focusing on A.4.

The results from pilot testing of genetic indicators in nine countries were showcased, demonstrating their feasibility. Ongoing work to support Parties was outlined, with an aim to help make reporting straightforward, affordable, and useful for supporting conservation action.
